Boeing wins contract for IAF AH-64A/D Apache logistics supportBoeing has received a five-year follow-on contract to provide integrated logistics support for the Israeli Air Force (IAF) Apache helicopters. The contract covers support for Israel’s AH-64A-model and D-model Apache helicopters. The direct commercial sale builds on the aircraft manufacturer’s decades of support for IAF Apaches. The sale package includes provision for D-model unique repairs, supply of A and D-model technical publications, and logistical, programme, engineering and technical support.

The US Air Force has picked a name for its new F-15EX fighter plane. During an unveiling ceremony at the base, they announced that the new plane will be called the F-15 Eagle II in a nod to its predecessor the F-15 Eagle. The F-15EX is the first US Air Force fourth-generation fighter program in over 20 years. The maiden flight for the new plane took place in February at St. Louis Lambert International Airport.

Boeing and Australia-based Hypersonix Launch Systems have signed an agreement to investigate the design of a sustainable hypersonic vehicle powered by the Hypersonix SPARTAN scramjet engines. Hypersonix and Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T) will conduct a joint study on the design of a reusable hypersonic vehicle to be used for the sustainable launch of satellites to Low Earth Orbit (LEO).

Boeing has inducted the first EA-18G Growler electronic attack aircraft at the start of a planned five-year modification program that will lay the bedrock for a host of future upgrades for the type in U.S. Navy service. Growlers serve a critical role in jamming radars and the communications signals of enemy forces, disabling their ability to detect and track U.S. and allied forces.

Boeing Defence Australia has won a 12-month extension to its contract to support Australia’s Chinooks. The updated CH-47F Chinook Integrated Support Services (CISS) contract will now run until 2025 and retains 45 jobs in Townsville, Oakey and Brisbane. Defence Industry Minister Melissa Price said, “These contract changes will increase the level of services provided to Defence and expand the maintenance and training support provided for the CH-47F Chinook fleet.

Boeing and the Australian government are to co-develop three more Loyal Wingman aircraft to advance the air-teaming vehicle, payloads and associated support and training capabilities. The agreement will increase the aircraft’s production capability to six aircraft for Royal Australian Air Force and is valued at $115 million over three years.

Just days after the first flight of the Boeing Airpower Teaming System combat drone that’s being developed for Australia, the company confirmed this unmanned aircraft will also provide the basis for its offering for the U.S. Air Force’s Skyborg loyal wingman program. In the meantime, the Royal Australian Air Force, or RAAF, has doubled its order for the drone, now buying six examples in total, as the program continues to hit new milestones.

The Australian government announced a plan Tuesday to co-develop three more Loyal Wingman unmanned aircraft, which recently completed its first test flight. The three-year, $115 million-dollar deal will support the maturation of the aircraft design, evolution of current and future payloads and create the sustainment system for the Loyal Wingman. The drone is the first military aircraft to be designed and manufactured in Australia in more than 50 years.
