The U.S. Navy recently awarded Boeing a Foreign Military Sales (FMS) contract, valued at $109 million, to provide P-8A Poseidon training for the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF), the company said in a Dec. 14 release. A suite of training systems and courseware will prepare RNZAF aircrew and maintainers to safely and effectively operate and maintain the world’s premier maritime patrol and reconnaissance aircraft for decades to come.

(Reuters Photo) U.S. aircraft giant Boeing has conducted the first flight tests of a prototype of the MQ-25 unmanned tanker aircraft with the installed refueling equipment. The tests were carried out in conjunction with specialists from the U.S. Navy and were deemed successful. The MQ-25 received one overhead container with a hose-cone system. The same ones are installed on carrier-based fighters Super Hornet and FIA-18 jet fighters.

Boeing secures Tactical Electronic Warfare System – Land Support contract -  APDR Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) has increased its electronic warfare (EW) footprint following the signing of a 10-year contract to provide operational and field support and engineering services to the Australian Defence Force (ADF). BDA will work with specialist EW company, Melbourne-based small-to-medium enterprise (SME) SouthTech Engineering (STE), and Boeing’s US subsidiary, Digital Receiver Technology (DRT), to support the delivery of the Tactical Electronic Warfare System – Land Support contract.

Four companies win contracts to build the Air Force's Skyborg drone Boeing won a $25.7 million contract from the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center late Monday, Kratos a $37.7 million contract and privately held General Atomics a $14 million contract. The three companies have until May to deliver the drone prototypes to the Air Force so the service can perform flight tests ahead of expected experimentation events in July.

The British Army received its first two Boeing Apache AH-64E helicopters from the U.S. government on Nov. 26. The delivery is the result of a $2.3 billion deal that was first announced by the United Kingdom’s (UK) Ministry of Defense in July 2016, and includes a total of 50 Apache attack helicopters which will be replacing their Apache AH Mark 1 fleet retiring in 2024.

Boeing completes autonomous teaming test flights in Australia | Aerospace  Testing International Boeing Co said on Wednesday it had completed tests with five surrogate jets operating autonomously in a team in Australia, where it is developing an unmanned fighter-like jet designed to cooperate with manned aircraft. The 10 days of tests were part of the Boeing Airpower Teaming System programme, which has developed prototype “Loyal Wingman” aircraft with the Royal Australian Air Force that can carry weapons and shield manned fighter jets.

Aurora Flight Sciences Lightning Strike Aurora Flight Sciences, a Boeing Company, aims to develop an experimental plane under a new Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) contract. The X-plane seeks to demonstrate the advanced capabilities of Active Flow Control (AFC) as a primary design consideration. Through DARPA’s Control of Revolutionary Aircraft with Novel Effectors (CRANE) program, Aurora is under contract for Phase 0 in partnership with Boeing and the University of Arizona.

Boeing Australia’s Loyal Wingman drone successfully completed its first low-speed runway taxi maneuver and is on track to begin flight later this year. “Reaching a maximum speed of 14 knots (approximately 16 mph, or 26 kilometers per hour), on the ground, the aircraft demonstrated several activities while maneuvering and stopping on command,” a company news release explained.
