According to a press release published by Austal on June 18, 2021, the company has delivered RKS Teanoai II, the eleventh Guardian-class Patrol Boat (GCPB), to the Australian Department of Defence. The vessel, the RKS Teanoai II, was then gifted by the Australian Government to the Government of the Republic of Kiribati at a certificate signing ceremony held at Austal Australia’s Henderson shipyard.

Austal Limited says it has further entrenched itself in the US Navy’s push to operate robot warships in conflict zones. The Perth-based shipbuilder won a $US44 million ($56.9 million) contract to build autonomous capability into the next vessel it delivers to the US Navy – a 103 metre-long, high-speed aluminium catamaran capable of carrying more than 300 troops.

The dozen Independence-class Littoral Combat Ships delivered so far to the US Navy are at the one time shipbuilder Austal’s most successful design yet at the same time the one that has not quite lived up to its promise. The Independence vessels were conceived as a breakthrough ship. It was to be high-speed, agile, warship equipped with interchangeable, modular mission packages allowing the same ship to conduct mine warfare, anti-submarine warfare and surface warfare operations.

Cape Class Patrol BoatsThe T&T, Trinidad and Tobago, Government has approved the purchase of two Austal Cape-class patrol boats to increase border security and safeguard the country's maritime domain. This was revealed on Monday by Minister of National Security, Fitzgerald Hinds MP, during his address at the T&T Defence Force (TTDF) passing out ceremony of new recruits, which took place at the Tetron Barracks in Chaguaramas.

Australia’s largest defence exporter, Austal, has begun talks to sell its 40 per cent stake in a Chinese shipbuilding joint venture set up five years ago amid deteriorating relations between the two countries.In 2016, the West Australia-based shipbuilder established Aulong Shipbuilding, a joint venture with Jianglong Shipbuilding, to build commercial passenger and non-military vessels for the Chinese market. Austal provided the designs for the ships.

Under a A$126 million (about US$94 million) contract awarded by the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Austal is constructing two 58-meter Cape-class Patrol Boats for the TTCG, both scheduled for delivery in the first half of 2021.

BSE Maritime Solutions, which operates in Cairns and Brisbane, serves defense, commercial, tourism and luxury vessel customers, including Australian Border Force, BAE Systems, Thales and Svitzer.
