Saab Dynamics and Raytheon Missile Systems, in association with the US Army, have conducted the first live firings of the new 84 mm Guided Multipurpose Munition (GMM) all-up round using the Carl-Gustaf M4 recoilless rifle and an adaptation of the AT4 disposable launcher. Conducted at the US Army's Yuma Proving Ground, Arizona, from 3–5 November 2020 but disclosed in early June, the GMM System Capability Demonstration marked the culmination of a three-year US government Rapid Innovation Funding (RIF) contract

Swedish defense company Saab has received an order from Panavia Aircraft GmbH to upgrade the radar warning equipment on the Tornado aircraft operated by the German Air Force. The order value is approximately 400 million SEK ($48.4 million). Saab will supply modern digital components, which will enhance the processing power and extend the lifetime of the Tornado’s radar warning equipment.

The Australian Department of Defence (DoD) has revealed plans to expand the deployment of Saab’s next-generation combat management system (CMS). Under the plans, the CMS will be fitted on the Royal Australian Navy’s (RAN) Maritime Mine Counter Measures (MCM) and Military Survey vessels. Australian Defence Minister Melissa Price said the move is expected to create dozens of local jobs and opportunities for Australian businesses.

According to a press release published on October 15, 2020, Swedish Company Saab has signed a multi-year framework contract with the U.S. Army for the latest version of the Carl-Gustaf multi-role, man-portable shoulder-fired weapon, known as the M3E1 in U.S. Army service and M4 globally. Saab has been awarded an $87 million MUSD (approximately 770 MSEK) Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity contract for M3E1 weapons..

The Morrison Government is strengthening the self-reliance of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) through a $370 million contract with Saab Australia to deliver cutting-edge deployable life-saving health equipment. Saab is to create a new FCAS centre in the United Kingdom as a hub for our participation in the FCAS (Future Combat Air Systems) programme. Saab is committed to build a long term relationship with the UK related to FCAS by investing initially £50 million. The UK and Sweden signed a MoU on FCAS co-operation in July 2019.

Sweden’s leading defence contractor will this week announce plans to invest an initial £50m in the UK to develop technology for future combat air systems. The move by Saab provides a timely boost to the UK-led Tempest future fighter project as the Ministry of Defence weighs its spending priorities for a strategic defence review that is expected later this year.
