Lockheed Martin has provided unprecedented opportunities to Australian industry by contracting 50 Australian companies in production for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter which translates to over 2,000 jobs. On top of the jobs created, the program has provided in excess of $1.7 billion in export dollars, which “creates real opportunities for a long time to come,” according to Deputy Country Executive, Lockheed Martin Australia & New Zealand Scott Thompson.

 

Mr Thompson told Sky News Lockheed Martin in partnership with the Royal Australian Navy and the 50 industry partners was able to provide an “upgrade to the Aegis weapon system on the Hobart class destroyer”.

“This is an activity that had never been done outside of the United States, relying on technology transfer between Australia and the United States.

“The team was able to do this crucial upgrade, continue to upgrade and maintain the Hobart class Destroyers and through that transfer, deliver Sovereign Australian industrial capability and keep the ships at sea.”...ARTICLE ENDS
