South Australians will play a crucial role in maintaining and supporting the Royal Australian Air Force’s P-8A Poseidon aircraft at RAAF Base Edinburgh, after a new deal was signed with Boeing Defence Australia which is creating 40 new jobs. Minister for Defence Industry Melissa Price said Boeing’s six-year contract would deliver support services to deliver cutting-edge surveillance and response capabilities.

A Victorian company is readying itself for global success in the aerospace industry after receiving funding from the Morrison Government to help it expand. Minister for Defence Industry Melissa Price announced Hosico Engineering from Braeside was one of the latest recipients of Defence Global Competitiveness Grants. “This program is part of the Morrison Government’s commitment to build a stronger, more sustainable and globally competitive Australian defence industry,” Minister Price said.

Boeing has conducted an end-to-end flight mission using three high performance test beds in outback Queensland, marking another successful milestone for the Autonomous Systems Platform Technology Project.“The goal of our mission was to completely test out our mission system software from start to finish, using three high performance jets,” said Emily Hughes, director of Boeing’s Phantom Works International.

U.S. Navy aerial warfare experts are asking Raytheon Technologies Corp. to build 58 AIM-9X precision short-range infrared-guided air-to-air missiles for jet fighters and other combat aircraft under terms of a $34.7 million order announced Monday. The AIM-9X is an infrared-guided heat-seeking missile that equips most jet fighters, fighter-bombers, and other offensive combat aircraft in the U.S. arsenal, and is for shooting down enemy aircraft close-by.

According to the Australian Defense Structure Plan 2020 released on July 1, 2020, Australia will strengthen the capabilities of its armed forces with new artillery systems including self-propelled howitzers, and rocket launcher artillery systems. Australian army plans to acquire tow regiments of self-propelled howitzers to complement existing land-based strike capabilities.This includes a future program of upgrades to hardware and software to ensure these systems retain their potency over time.

One of Australia’s most secretive and secure defence facilities is set to be solar powered, with a new 1.9MW solar farm to be added to Australia’s defence operations headquarters located just outside Canberra. The 1.9MW solar installation will be added to the Headquarters Joint Operations Command (HQJOC) facility, which houses Australia’s most senior defence leadership, and is where Australia’s international defence operations are coordinated.

Canberra has made a AU$1.35 billion promise to Australia's security agencies. With the funding to be spread over 10 years, the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) and the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) will receive the boost under a program called the Cyber Enhanced Situational Awareness and Response (CESAR) package, touted as being dedicated to boosting protection and cyber resilience for all Australians.
