The UK Secretary of State for Defense Rt Hon Ben Wallace MP has confirmed a £800 million ($1,1 billion) contract with Rheinmetall BAE Systems Land (RBSL) to build the next-generation Challenger 3 battle tank. “A multi-million-pound investment will deliver the most lethal tank in Europe and allow us to modernize our land forces,” the Defense Secretary said.

Swedish military procurement agency has signed a $200 million contract with BAE Systems for 127 BvS10 Viking (local name Bandvagn 410) tracked armored amphibious vehicles. Deliveries of the 127 vehicles are planned to begin in 2022 and complete in 2024. The vehicle can traverse rocks, mountains, snow, swamps, and Arctic environments, and its amphibious capability allows it to seamlessly transition to swimming.

BAE Systems launched Anson, the fifth of seven Astutes being built for the Navy, from its site in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, earlier today (21 April). The Astute class boats are the largest and most advanced attack submarines ever built for the Navy. The Australian Department of Defence (DoD) has contracted BAE Systems Australia for round production of the next-generation Nulka decoys and launcher systems. The five-year $116m (A$150m) contract is part of Australia’s commitment to continue exporting ‘crucial technology’ as part of a joint Australian and US programme. BAE Systems will also provide in-service support of the systems as part of the agreement.
