BAE Systems has been awarded a contract from Lockheed Martin for the production and delivery of additional electronic warfare (EW) systems for Lot 15, Lot 16 long lead, sustainment spares and retro fit kits for the 5th Generation F-35 Lightning II, providing advanced situational awareness and threat response capabilities that support critical missions in contested airspace, the company said in a Sept. 14 release.

The first armored multipurpose vehicle, or AMPV, designed to replace Vietnam-era M113 tanks, has been delivered to the U. S. Army, builder BAE Systems announced. The vehicle was handed over in a virtual roll-off ceremony at the BAE production line in York, Pa., on Tuesday.Originally scheduled for March, delivery was delayed by manufacturing problems and the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Engineers at BAE Systems are exploiting the digital environment to design, test, and fly concepts for Tempest, UK’s next-generation fighter jet, which will be in service by 2035. BAE Systems has said that the conceptual shapes for the aircraft have been virtually designed and tested, with high-performance computers able to calculate the aerodynamic performance of different aircraft features and test pilots taking Tempest to the skies from a ground-based simulator.

The First Cavalry Division took to social media last week to announce that the GREYWOLF brigade had received the upgraded Paladin M109A7 Artillery system, which is the latest howitzer in the BAE Systems M109 family. “Say hello to the M109A7 Paladin, and the most recent addition to the GREYWOLF Family!,” the unit said in a tweet on the micro-blog social media platform Twitter.

Defence has signed a $5.3 million contract extension with BAE Systems Australia to provide technical support to the Army’s M113 Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) fleet for another three years.
