US-headquartered defence IT specialist Leidos could be leveraging the phenomenal growth it has seen in the Australian market as a springboard for an expansion across the broader Asia Pacific region. The multibillion-dollar merger between Leidos and Lockheed Martin’s government IT services business in 2016 saw Leidos Australia grow almost overnight from a 60-strong tech player to a firm with almost 800 people under its belt.

IT, engineering and science solutions and services provider Leidos has been named an awardee for the Defense Intelligence Agency’s Solutions for the Information Technology Enterprise III, or SITE III, contract vehicle. The 10-year multiple-award contract holds a total estimated value of $12.6 billion. As an awardee, Leidos will continue supporting DIA and compete for task orders to support the overall program.

A second medium-sized unmanned surface vessel prototype has delivered to the Navy, builder Leidos announced this week. Sea Hawk, sister ship to the Navy’s Sea Hunter, was built on the Gulf Coast and is now bound to join the Navy’s Surface Development Squadron One in California, the company said in a Wednesday press release.

Engineering, IT and defense conglomerate Leidos has reached an agreement to buy the storied naval architecture firm Gibbs & Cox, boosting its capabilities as it competes for U.S. Navy unmanned systems contracts. In an earnings call Tuesday, Leidos CEO Roger Krone confirmed that his company plans to pay $380 million for Gibbs & Cox, with the transaction expected to close in the first quarter.

Reston, Va.-based Leidos said it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire esteemed naval architecture and marine engineering firm Gibbs & Cox for $380 million in cash, as the defense, engineering and IT conglomerate looks to bolster its expertise as it competes for U.S. Navy unmanned systems contracts. The deal is expected to close in the second quarter of 2021, subject to closing conditions.

Leidos, a global science and technology firm, has increased its investment in Victoria with plans to establish its Software Factory in Melbourne as part of a project that will create up to 100 new, highly skilled tech jobs. Minister for Economic Development Tim Pallas said this will be its first factory outside the United States. The factory will support the company’s growth in Australia, extend its global reach and attract new industry-leading capabilities for software development.

Fa 18 28 Aug 2020 Electronic warfare (EW) experts at Leidos Inc. are developing ways to spoof adaptive radar, which uses digital technology to change its characteristics dynamically to adapt to changes in its environment. Officials of the Naval Air Systems Command at Patuxent River Naval Air Station, Md., announced a $58.9 million order Thursday to Leidos in Reston, Va., to develop adaptive radar countermeasures hardware and software for the L3Harris AN/ALQ-214A EW system aboard Navy F/A-18 carrier-based jet fighter-bombers.

The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has handed Leidos Australia a 33-month contract extension to deliver end-user technology support services, a deal valued at close to AU$98 million. Leidos Australia was initially awarded the contract in 2010. "We have a longstanding relationship with the ATO, providing innovative, secure, and sustainable industry-leading solutions," Leidos Australia vice president of IT services Caroline Dawson said.

Leidos announced today it has been awarded a new task order by the U.S. Army Contracting Command – Aberdeen Proving Ground (ACG-APG) to provide Intelligence, Electronic Warfare and Sensors (IEW&S) system and software support to the U.S. Army's Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM) Software Engineering Center (SEC), Sensors and Mission Equipment Division (SMED).
